Good riddance

Category: Poems | Tags: Love, Romance

Here’s how I rid you from within me:

I don’t think of you every time I hear a song
reminding me of us (which is pretty much any song I purposely play, on repeat)

I don’t see your face across the table when
I’m with other people (it helps if they’re distracting in their beauty)

I don’t sit in that corner of the world you occupied when
you were with me – the rock out by the ocean, the shape of you in the shower

I don’t retrace your footsteps through the same paths we
walked together once

I don’t order food you loved to eat just to taste the pleasure on
your tongue as your mouth took in its flavour

I don’t hold the pillow which cushioned your back, I don’t breathe in the scent of you
Seabreeze and shadow

I don’t close my eyes and dream of you telling me you love me

I don’t tell myself I love you
I don’t tell myself I love you
